Restoration

restauration.jpgIn solid wood antique furniture, joints may break or separate due to significant changes in relative humidity and temperature as well as mishandling. Very often the piece must be taken apart to access the damaged component, glue the breaks possibly adding wood, metal insert or pegs. Wood damaged by insects can be treated by fumigation and reinforced with reversible resins.

For number of years, member of the American institute of conservation, We focus on the integrity of the entire piece, using time tested method of the great European craftsmen:

  • Use of hide glue ( Egyptian technique 5000 years ago ) for flexibility and future conservation,
  • Traditional sawn veneer from www.george-veneers.com, or sawn in our studio
  • Traditionally made bronzes from Renote faubourg Saint Antoine.
